The ancient sites in Pafos, in close proximity to our holiday villas, will surprise you at every turn. Pafos is a growing, modern coastal town that seduces visitors with what it has to offer to all visitors in Cyprus. You will be surprised by Paphos majestic landscape, historical treasures, ancient monasteries and delightful villages. Pafos is a favourite holiday resort among both Cypriots and foreigners. Even if you are visiting for a couple of days staying in one of our holiday villas the short distances allow you to explore Cyprus from coast to coast and from the beaches to the mountains.

 

Getting around is no problem in Cyprus and if you do not wish to drive yourself, intercity service taxis are the most economical and convenient way to travel while regular taxis are always available. Self-drive car and motorcycle rental companies have offices in all towns. We recommend you hire a car in nearby Polis and drive yourself. ?n this way you will visit the more beautiful, remote areas and places of interest.

Road signs in Cyprus are in both Greek and English, so getting lost is virtually impossible.

ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF POLIS

The museum of Polis houses an interesting collection of antiquities found in the region.

BYZANTINE MUSEUM

The attractive collection of objects from the Byzantine period, including Byzantine icons from the 7th to the 18th century and the oldest icon found in Cyprus.

BYZANTINE MUSEUM OF ARSINOE

Situate at Peristerona village 9 km south of Polis.

PAFOS MEDIEVAL FORT

Originally a Byzantine fort built to protect the harbour, it was rebuilt by the Lusignans in the 13th century, dismantled by the Venetians in 1570 and rebuilt by the Ottomans after they captured the island in the 16th century.

PAFOS MOSAICS

The mosaic floors of these noblemen's villas dating from the 3rd to the 5th century AD are considered among the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean. They depict scenes mainly from Greek mythology.

TOMBS OF THE KINGS

Spread ever a vast area these impressive underground tombs date to the 4th century BC.

If you are a nature lover then the unspoiled face of Cyprus will not disappoint you. Nature trails from easy one-hour walks to more challenging hikes all offer a wonderful experience off the beaten track.

STAVROS TIS PSOKAS

The forest station at Stavros tis Psokas lies in the heart of the Pafos forest. It is the largest and most beautiful Pine forest in Cyprus. Here you can admire the Cyprus moufflon in an enclosure whilst the Cedar Valley is 19km further on. Three nature trails cross this area.

AKAMAS

Akamas is the peninsula at the westernmost point of Cyprus. The area lends itself ideal for walking, cycling, swimming, diving, fishing, exploring and bird watching.

BATHS OF APHRODITE

Not to be missed at any cost, Adonis and Aphrodite are known as the most passionate couple in Greek mythology- a symbol of endless love. From the moment he was born, Adonis was the focus of Aphrodite's attention. She followed Adonis everywhere, even forfeiting Olympus to be close to him. The love story sadly ended in tragedy however when Adonis was attacked by a boar in the Pafos forests. Aphrodite running in his rescue only managed to kiss him farewell before he died in her arms. The Baths of Aphrodite at Polis echo her apparent penchant for the island. According to the legend Aphrodite took her beauty baths in a pool of a natural grotto shaded by a fig tree which can be viewed to this day. Go on and have a dip whilst there- but be warned the goddess may be watching you, this was her playground.

Whilst you will enjoy the cosmopolitan centers and coastal resorts in Cyprus, don't miss the opportunity to explore a few of the traditional villages as rural Cyprus is likely to impress you far more than you expect.

POLIS CHRYSOCHOUS VILLAGE

This village maintained its picturesque character and many of it is old, original houses. The barrel-vaulted church of Agios Andronikos dating back to the 16th century is located in the centre of the village.

YIALIA VILLAGE

Situated near Polis this delightful village was once a Turkish Cypriot Village.

KATHIKAS VILLAGE

One of the most attractive village. In the area is built at the top of a hill where the villagers' main occupation is the cultivation of extensive vineyards. The reliable Cyprus sunshine in no doubt one of the main attractions of the island. The Pafos Coastline is noted for its diversity ranging from rugged cliffs to pebble coves and sandy beaches. If you are the sporty, adventurous type and you enjoy a bit of action during your holiday, you will be impressed by the variety of water sports within reach of our holiday villas. There is scuba diving, sailing and yachting, boat trips, cruising, fishing just to mention a few. The beaches are stunning and the beach at Latchi is no exception. With warm crystal clear seas, no tides or dangerous currents, Polis is perfect for water sports. There is every variety of water sports, such as paragliding, jet skiing, water- skiing, banana boat riding and canoeing available. Windsurfing, sailing and deep- water fishing can be enjoyed all the year round thanks to the steady winds and weather. Even better why not discover the magic of the underwater world by snorkelling or diving off Akamas coast. Hire a boat or join a coastal cruise and get away from the crowds on the beach by anchoring in a secluded cove.

You can go to the cinema or the theatre and at night there are many pubs, bars and clubs to enjoy, with a lot of venues offering live entertainment. The night life in Cyprus is varied. There is something for everyone, from a relaxing drink to the vibrant club scene. For dining out do not despair. There is a wide selection of restaurants and every evening will be a memorable one. If the entire family is holidaying and looking for something special to buy to take back home then in Cyprus you can shop till you drop.

LATSI

This is the ideal point from which to explore the nearby Akamas peninsula. The water is crystal clear and the beaches stunning. An ideal place to swim and enjoy the beautiful waters.

BLUE LAGOON

On the Akamas peninsula the lagoon is only accessible by boat from the Latsi Marina. Unspoiled, turquoise waters make it one of the best beaches on the island. Spend the day swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing.

CORAL BAY

A sweeping bay you cannot miss as you drive along the coast, about 10km outside Paphos. Shallow water and sugary sands attract residents as well as visitor.

KIDS ARE NEVER FORGOTTEN

Cyprus is probably one of the most family friendly holiday destinations. In Cyprus kids reign supreme. A number of amusement parks and attractions are designed to entertain the children in a safe environment. There is the Snake George's Reptile Park, Island Cove Adventure mini Golf, Pafos Bird Park not to mention the Pafos Aquarium. Nothing is quite as tempting as a day at the Aphrodite water park in Pafos with river rides to wave pools or breathtaking slides.

PICNIC SITES

Picnics are very popular in Cyprus. Designated picnic sites with tables and benches are scattered across the countryside, the majority of which have special barbecue areas designated for public use. The following picnic sites are found in the Pafos area and not very far from our holiday villas. On the other hand you can enjoy a picnic right on your holiday villa with plenty space and whilst enjoying the unique natural beauty that it offers to every visitor.

GOLF DAYS

If golf is your ideal fun do not despair. The major "currently operating" golf courses are in Pafos and only approximately 30 minutes from our holiday villas. You can choose from Tsada Golf Club, the Secret Valley golf Club or Aphrodite Hills. With so mach to see and do and with a little planning every day will be a day to remember.

NEWS AND MEDIA

Cyprus has many daily and weekly newspapers some of which are in English. U.K newspapers are also widely sold in Cyprus. There are a number of English radio stations bringing you the latest news and entertainment. There are numerous local and international television channels in both Greek and English. Our holiday villas all have satellite television and you can view all international and British sports including cricket, Premier league, champions' league etc. You will not miss a thing.
