Where is the best place to relax in Cyprus

The main resort areas for seaside holidays in Cyprus:

✔ Protaras – this resort village is suitable for a leisurely family holiday. Good beaches and emerald water. It is convenient to travel to Northern Cyprus from here.

✔ Ayia Napa – a resort designed for parties and fun. In addition, there are cool beaches with clear blue water (though some of them are too crowded).

✔ Larnaca – the cheapest resort town, good beaches and proximity to the airport.

✔ Limassol – this is perhaps the most expensive resort with not the most beautiful beaches. A port city with all that entails. But here there are a large number of shops, shopping centers, a magnificent embankment and parks. From Limassol it is convenient to make trips throughout the Greek part of the Republic of Cyprus.

✔ Paphos – a popular resort town, here is another airport of the Republic of Cyprus, a pleasant embankment, many ancient sights.

✔ Coral Bay/Peyia – a resort village with a beautiful coastline, interesting natural attractions nearby (Akamas Nature Reserve, Avakas Canyon) and the city of Paphos.

✔ Polis – the city is not quite on the seashore, you will have to walk a bit to the beach. There is no mass tourism here, however, Russian and English speech is heard as often as in other parts of Cyprus. A boring quiet town.

Beaches of Cyprus

In Cyprus, there are both equipped beaches (in resort areas and at restaurants) and wild/semi-wild ones. All of them are municipal, so you can relax on any of them, even if there is a hotel or restaurant nearby.

A large number of beaches in Cyprus are marked with the blue flag, which means that they are free, equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas, toilets, the water meets sanitary and environmental requirements, there is a rescue service and a first aid station.

The cost of renting sun loungers and umbrellas is regulated by the state and cannot exceed 2.5 € per unit. A Wi-Fi password is provided as a bonus when renting beach equipment. During your vacation on the beaches of Cyprus, it is not forbidden to lie on your own towel or mat.

Many beaches are sandy. There are also sandy-pebble, pebble and even stone ones. As for the color of the sand, it varies from white to gray, with varying degrees of yellowness and redness. If we talk about the beaches of Cyprus in connection with the resorts, then the situation is approximately as follows:

✔ Sandy white and yellow:

  • Ayia Napa – beaches with white and white-yellow sand. In the center of the resort town – a large beach, several large ones on the outskirts and small beaches-bays. Be careful! On the outskirts there are beaches equipped for sunbathing, but not suitable for swimming because of the stones.
  • Protaras – beaches with yellow sand. In the center of the village – a long beach, on the outskirts – beaches-bays.
  • Lara – yellow-orange sandy beach Lara (the one that is northern) in the south of the Akamas Nature Reserve.
  • Paphos – in Paphos, part of the beaches with yellow and yellow-orange sand, often created artificially: Sandy, Lighthouse, Kefalos, SODAP.
